JAMES BOWERS
James is a retired oceanographer. After receiving a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin James was a research scientist at the University of Michigan and the Savannah River National Laboratory. This research background, combined with several extended stays in Paris and a lifelong interest in French history, fostered a curiosity in the role that Paris parks and gardens had played in the city’s history. Extensive readings and continued trips to Paris resulted in the historical narrative, Paris Parks: Poisons, Devils, and Duels.
James and his artist wife share their time between Aiken, South Carolina and Pentwater, Michigan.
